Where to begin?   Meeting Robby Benson could not have been anymore perfect!   We will never forget the experience.   Robby is gorgeous in person. His skin is flawless, and his hair is still a thick mane of black, only now streaked with silver. His eyes were crystal blue, even in the dim lighting of the Barnes and Noble. Our digital photos do him no justice.   There was so much red-eye and colors that had to be corrected.   Please accept our sincere apologies. (Blame Ginger for the wrong camera settings!)
Robby's voice has not changed and still sounds like silky velvet. He was so animated when he read a book excerpt. He was extremely funny, a true actor.   It was like watching a scene from a movie. He comes off as very bashful and modest. We have to say it, Robby is just, 'REAL.'
Although we were completely nervous meeting Robby, and afterwards, Karla, it was almost like meeting up with old friends.   The audience asked about why he wants to go back to North Carolina.   Robby and his family love it there. Like a good parent, Robby puts family first and foremost.   He wants to raise and "nurture" his son in the best environment possible.   Also noted, they miss the cows.
Valerie had the courage to ask a question about his music. Her question was, "Are you going to be recording any more albums because you have such a BEAUTIFUL voice?"
This caused a ripple of "awww's" throughout the audience.   He blushed and looked down with a smile and said, "Thank you, that was very sweet."
He tried to say his singing was mediocre, but that is entirely untrue in our opinion.   Robby mentioned that he will eventually make an album that features his talented wife, Karla Devito.   This is simply but lovingly because, "she deserves it." (What a husband!) Then he went on to talk about how he and Karla met 26 years ago.   She was the sweetest and kindest woman he ever met and he fell in love right away.
During the book signing we were in stunned disbelief when Robby told us that he was just looking at our site for the first time today!   He told us he was "blown away."
The ABC Network interviewed him and they were the ones who showed him our link.   Karla told us that there were pictures on here they haven't even seen before.   They made US feel like the celebrities! It was so funny when he revealed that he and Karla were almost late for the Book Signing because they were looking through it! (I thought the coordinator looked a little agitated before it began!)
Robby and Karla are a real class act.   They have no pretenses and defy all 'Hollywood' stereotypes of couples. They are super friendly, witty and talented.   They appreciate life, family, friends, and as we learned that night, their fans.
